Black Tribal Tattoos

Black Tribal Tattoos are the most popular color when people of all ages get a Tribal Tattoo and for a very good reason. The color black is considered the color of authority and seriousness. Therefore the color completely compliments the Tribal Tattoo because a reason people get one is to show a leader of the pack image, a main player in a tribe, a symbol of power. A tribal leader had to be authoritative to get to that position so the image of that which we hold in our heads is expressed by the design and the power of the color - black.

The Tribal Tattoo makes a bold statement in the first place and the black color certainly adds to the effect. The sharp edges and abstract designs capture the expression an artist or person receiving a tattoo is looking for whereas a color tattoo can lose that message or reason for having a tribal design when it starts fading. A color tattoo loses that powerful message when it loses its shine as they have a tendency to fade after prolonged sun exposure. The color black is completely different as it absorbs light particles that hit it so the color doesn’t fade the tattoo like a multi colored tattoo. Hence it keeps its authoritative appeal.

Another reason for the choice of the dark color is to match that which the many tribes used from generation to generation. The tribes of yesterday were limited in their choice of colors by the raw ingredients of planet Earth but this was not the only reason for their choice of colors. Most tribes had olive or darker complexions to deal with the harsh sun. Naturally the darkest color was chosen for the design to be visible on their skin. However today’s choice of color is more about how it enhances the abstract design. The sharp powerful edges can say much more in black than any other color.

Depending on the culture black can mean perfection, nobility, experience, life and prosperity. All these meanings add so much to a design it is little wonder why the color is so popular.
