Tattoo Autoclave

Tattoo autoclave

In the global age where people can travel freely from country to country, common diseases in one country are being transported into another thanks to the ease and speed at which we can move around the world. Therefore it is very important that tattoo artists use clean equipment each time to stop the spread of any diseases such as hepatitis, which can be caught from contact with objects contaminated by blood containing the disease. The only way to avoid spreading diseases is by keeping the tattoo equipment clean at a micro biological level and to do that you need to sterilize the equipment. The most commonly used sterilizers are autoclaves.

An autoclave is a pressure cooker that uses pressurized steam to destroy micro organisms. Mainly used in the medical industry to clean the re-usable equipment, the autoclave must climb to a temperature high enough to steralize. To do this the autoclave must be set to a temperature of 250 degrees Fahrenheit or 121 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes for the germs to be completely destroyed.

In the tattoo industry it is vital that this type of machinery is used to make sure nothing is being passed on from client to client. Extra care is needed in this type of industry or it is a life sentence for the client who contracts hepatitis and it is a mega lawsuit for the tattoo artist. As a client, for piece of mind, it would be a good idea to ask the tatoo shop owner to show you the sterilizing equipment. If you see an autoclave then ask to see the results of the latest maintenance test to make sure that the equipment is regularly maintained. If you see a kitchen pressure cooker then walk out of there because the temperatures an that type of equipment cannot reach the right heights to destroy blood particles on tattoo equipment.

In today’s age with advances in technology and a major focus on health, safety and quality standards the production of autoclaves has become much more sophisticated. Once a large pressure cooker the modern autoclave is a much smaller design with prices ranging from 500 to 8000 and depending on the tattoo artist’s finances this will determine what they will purchase. However it’s importance to note that there is no excuse for the spread of diseases with this type of equipment on the market.

It’s not just important for every tattoo shop to have an autoclave sterilizer, it’s vital.
